173 days of siege – 30 areas bombarded – 6 martyrs fell, amongst them a woman
Death toll on the 173rd day of the ongoing military campaign and siege carried out by the regime’s security, Shabiha (thugs), and Hezballah forces against the province of Homs has reached 6 martyrs, amongst them one woman. A huge number
of civilians got wounded as well, amongst them women and children, especially in the districts of Old Homs due to the extremely extensive bombardment that targeted the area along with Deir Ba’lbeh and Al Sultaneyyeh by MEG23; Sukhoi warplanes were spotted for the first time ever hovering over the city of Homs.
The bombardment is being carried out by the regime’s forces in the military sort-out facility in Al Qusair, Al Handaseh brigade in Rastan, the military dorms south of Homs, in the military college in Al Waer, and in pro-regime villages such as Asyoun.
Up until now, 30 areas got bombarded. They are:

- Old Homs’s districts:
MEG23 warplanes extensively bombarded the ancient districts of Old Homs. 3 airstrikes were launched and at least around 20 rockets were fired, specially targeting the districts of Bab Hood, Bab Draib, and Bab Turkman. Intense tank shelling (carried out by the regime’s forces stationed near the ancient castle) also intensely targeting the district of Bab Hood, Souk Al Naoura, Al Safsafeh, Bab Turkman, Al Hamedeyye, Bab Draib, Bani Sibai’, and Bab Tudmur; the bombardment was directly hitting civilian houses and the only bakery that supplies civilians with some bread baked by the flour available in the besieged districts. More than 5 shells targeted the bakery since after midnight up until now. Also, intermittent gunfire is being fired by the regime’s forces. Thick smoke and fires have been spotted billowing from many of the targeted buildings (more than 10 buildings were on fire).
Belal Al Ne’emi, from Karm Al Zaytoun district, and Abdullah Al Murabe’, and Mohammad Al Mhemeed, from Daraa got martyred as several other civilians got wounded, amongst them 3 women severely wounded.

- Deir Ba’lbeh district:
MEG23s launched at least 3 airstrikes over the district. The bombardment targeted several areas in the district as the intense rocket and mortar bombardment has been ongoing. Sukhoi warplanes have been spotted for the first time over the district. - Al Sultaneyyeh district:
The regime’s forces renewed their bombarding, targeting the district indiscriminately using MEG23 warplanes.
- Al Qusour district:
MEG23 launched 6 airstrikes on the district this morning, then they began bombarding the district using rocket launchers and mortars, leading to the injury of several civilians.
- Al Khaldeye district:
The district also got subjected to the intense MEG23 bombardment today, leading to further destruction in the district. Smoke was spotted billowing in several areas.

- Al Waer district:
7 people from Idlib, all suffering from stab wounds ranging from mild to severe were brought to Al Ber hospital. They were all arrested by the regime’s Shabiha (thugs) on Homs-Tartus road.
- Karm Al Shami district:
The regime’s forces evacuated the elementary and middle schools from students. Huge explosions shook the whole district due to the bombardment being carried out by the tank stationed on the rooftop of the ancient castle and due to the tank stationed near the traffic light of Al Sham road near Al Farouq pharmacy, both of which are extensively tank shelling the Old districts of Homs as they open gunfire heavily as well.
The regime’s security and Shabiha (thugs) forces also are heavily spread on the entrances of the district and on Al Sham road. A new imaginary barrier was set up near Al Akhyar area, reinforced by around 17 of the security forces. They began stopping the passerby, searching cars, and asking IDS from young men. A young man was then inhumanely humiliated and severely beat up in mid of the street.

- Talbiseh:
Helicopters hovered over the city as the regime’s forces stationed in Al Handaseh brigade and Al Meshrafeyyeh village renewed their bombarding, targeting the city by artillery and mortars whilst the regime’s forces stationed on military Al Mulook barrier opened gunfire at the city using anti-aircrafts.
Hajar Al Arour, aged 50, married and has 5 kids, got martyred after succumbing to the shrapnel wounds she sustained due to the bombardment yesterday.

- Rastan:
The regime’s forces renewed their extensive bombarding, targeting the city using artillery and rocket launchers, leading to the destruction of several building and to the injury of several civilians. All basic needs for survival are cut off from the city.
At night, the bombardment was renewed, as the regime’s forces began targeting the farmlands of Rastan and the villages of Gharnatah and Om Sharshouh. A massive number of wounded civilians were rushed to the makeshift hospital of Rastan. SOS calls were sent by the doctors and the medical cadre to help them treat the countless number of civilians.
2 Free Syrian Army soldiers also got wounded during the ongoing clashes in Tesneen village in Rastan’s suburbs.

The regime’s forces renewed their bombarding, targeting the city by TNT barrels and rockets, leading to much destruction in residential houses. Also, civilians held the funeral procession of Amneh Saleh Al Hourani, who got martyred after succumbing to the wounds she sustained due to the indiscriminate bombardment.

- Ezz Al Deen village:
At night, the regime’s forces began bombarding the village extensively using rocket launchers. The bombardment was concentrated on the areas of Qneetrat and Tulool Al Hamer. Reports say that a huge number of civilians got wounded and more reports say that martyrs fell. Do note that these areas get bombarded for the first time ever and they contain a huge number of internally displaced civilians from Rastan and Talbiseh. No one was able to go reach the area due to the intensity of the bombardment. Civilians already displaced began leaving the area again, going to the orchards and farmlands in this bitter cold weather, trying to find any safe zone.

Helicopters were spotted hovering over the village, dropping a number of cluster bombs and leading to the injury of several civilians and to much destruction in civilian houses. Electricity is cut off from the area and surrounding villages for more than 4 months now. Add to that the massive scarcity in much of the basic needs and provisions.

¤ Hama City:
As usual, Assad regime forces were on alert in most neighborhoods of the city. They went on a campaign of raids and arrests in Majra al-Zyada neighborhood.
In the morning, regime forces were deployed in front of the town hall in Assi Square. They had with them military vehicles, and snipers were positioned in the surrounding area.
Snipers were also deployed atop the medical compound on al-Amereyeh Street in al-Manakh neighborhood.
In the evening:
Regime forces at the Civil Defense building and Naseh Alwan school opened fire, targeting demonstrations from Zaid bin Thabet and Fatima al-Zahra Mosque.
Intermittent gunfire was reported from snipers at the Workers’ Union building, al-Ajzeh checkpoint, the Baath party Prep School and the Party HQ onto surrounding neighborhoods.
Despite this, anti-regime demonstrations were held.
¤ Hama Countryside:
Jrouh Village:
Today, Assad regime forces raided and searched the village amid intense gunfire, and stole three motorcycles and a small car.
Helfaya:
Assad regime forces raided houses near the hospital in search of defected soldiers, and arrested some civilians. They held them for an hour and physically abused them before releasing them.
Soran:
Assad regime forces set off an explosive divide in Soran near al-Umaraa Car Wash on M’aardes Road today.
Aqrab Area:
The following people were kidnapped by shabiha thugs as they were coming to Aqrab from Hama

All passengers aboard a service vehicle from Khirbet al-Jamea’ were kidnapped by pro-regime thugs from the villages of al-Hmairi, Baiseen and Qfailoon
A herd of sheep belonging to Mohammad Abbas al-Sati was stolen in Akrad al-Dasneyeh.
Southern Hama Countryside:
Mahmoud Sh’houd Abu Sha’alan and his wife were arrested at the Tal Qartal checkpoint after security forces physically beat them. They took them to an unknown location. This happened after security forces saw the corpse of martyr Abu Nawaf in their car, as they were taking it to hand it one to his family. The regime forces took the corpse as well.
Kawkab:
Intense Shilka artillery shelling was reported from the A’laf checkpoint, and an explosion from an unknown source shook the village.
al-Van al-Shamali (Northern al-Van):
Tanks at the A’laf checkpoint in Kawkab were reported to be violently shelling the village. Four shells fell on the village at least, as forces at the checkpoint were on alert.

In Tafas city, the clashes continue between the free Syrian army and the regime’s forces where the regime’s army is using all types of guns, includingthem heavy and medium machine guns, whereas the free Syrian army are using medium and light machine guns as they launched an attack on the reinforcements besieging the city from several sides. Also Tafas city and Almzereb town have been subjected to bombardment with mortars and heavy artillery .
Ashraf Khalaf Almesyi and Emad Fares Alnatoor got martyred during the clashes with the regime’s forces. Tens of civilians were injured and many houses were destroyed because of the bombardment.
News from the city say that the regime’s army have invaded the southern neighbourhood after the free Syrian army left the area after they ran out of pistols.
Omar Mahmoud Ali Almekdad from Busra Alsham was killed due to sniper gunfire fired by the sniper stationed on the hotel of the city .
A huge explosion shook in the city, after that , heavy ongoing clashes were heard in all the city; no news about the causes and injuries .
Jaedor Huran brigade announced the martyrdom of 4 of its individuals due to an ambush from regime’s forces on the road between Salmen and Zamreen. The martyrs are:
-The defected first Lt Ahmed Zakaarya Ebrahem Abo Husaeva
- Emad Abo Omar from Allgat district (Tahla and Zubaeer brigade )
- the defected corporal Talha Ebraheem (Tahla and Zubaeer brigade)
- Hassan Alwadiy (Enkhel martyrs).
Today afternoon, regime’s helicopter have bombarded Alteeba town with the explosive barrels leading to the injury of several civilians and to the destruction of a mosque and many houses.
