Good time for a bloodbath in Aleppo? Putin thinks so

Short Summary

In this article, David Hearst reaches the conclusion that Russian Vladimir Putin believes that he can succeed in subjecting Aleppo as he did to Grozny. Hearst rules out the fall of the city of Aleppo which represents one fo the three most important sunni cities in the Arab World after Baghdad and Mossul, and Putin and his allies cannot win in a country where the majority  of the population is sunnis and supported by Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

If  Putin fails to knockout quickly the syrian rebels as he believes he can achieve, this will lead him to rethink his strategy on the long term because Russia does not have an economy that can sustain a foreign interference on the long term, and oil and gas proceeds are not everlasting.
